How does acupuncture work?
Acupuncture is based on the philosophy that fundamental energy, our qi, flows throughout the body along pathways called meridians. It works by regulating a patient’s qi, supplementing it if the qi is deficient and dispersing it if qi has become stagnant.
To correct health imbalances, SanaVita’s qualified acupuncturists take a thorough look at a person’s entire health history. A patient’s constitution and overall health are taken into account so the practitioner can treat the whole person and not just the symptom of a specific ailment or disease.
Acupuncture has been endorsed by the World Health Organization and the National Institutes of Health.
The practice originated in Asia thousands of years ago. Now westerners recognize it for its therapeutic aspects. Acupuncture can treat many symptoms and is often used for pain management, treating physical pain such as headaches, to emotional suffering such as stress, depression, PTSD, etc.
Acupuncture + Colon Hydrotherapy
Acupuncture combined with colon hydrotherapy will enhance detox and weight loss. This synergistic method will help move the bowels before, during and after the colonic session. It also balances the qi and emotion, which may provide optimal results from the colonic session.
Our face is the mirror of our physical and emotional health. Facial acupuncture will increase blood supply to the face, resulting in a supple, nourished, refreshed and glowing appearance. Facial treatment will safely and effectively erase many years from your face without the use of invasive procedures such as botox or fillers.
What is an acupuncture session like?
The acupuncturist will insert very fine sterile needles into specific points on the body to target areas in distress. The needles influence the flow of qi throughout the body to restore balance and improve health.
There can be an initial sensation of a pin-prick when a needle is first inserted. But since the needles are very small and fine, that pin-prick sensation is quite different from the sensation caused by large needles used to take blood or give shots.
There can also be a strange sensation as the needle point connects to the qi flowing through the meridian point. But this sensation is not exactly painful; the feeling is often described as a small jolt of energy.
People generally feel very relaxed during and after an acupuncture treatment.
Acupuncture has no side effects
Acupuncture can effectively treat many conditions or serve as a complement to conventional treatment. Since acupuncture is not chemically based, it does not cause side effects associated with medications, nor will it interact with any medications you may be taking.
As far back as 1500BC, cupping therapy has been used to alleviate neck, shoulder, back, and arthritis pain, treat allergies, asthma, stress, anxiety, and as an effective therapy to reduce the appearance of stubborn cellulite. During your treatment, glass or silicon cups are applied to the skin to create a light suction, which gently separates the outer tissue from the fascia layer. This increases blood flow, circulates lymph, and decreases inflammation in the affected areas. The deep relaxation and body soothing results are often described as a “reverse” massage, but have the added benefit of long lasting symptom relief when incorporated into your health and healing regimes.
