Reiki is a natural healing modality that assesses and adjusts the imbalances in a person’s energy field, to help the body return to its natural, balanced state.
The body is surrounded by an electromagnetic energy field that is created by frequencies on an atomic level. This energy field is a blueprint of physical and emotional well-being, and can be measured by a practitioner at the major energy centers called chakras. Stress, diet, physical traumas and relationships all contribute to the degradation of a person’s energy fields.
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation which also promotes healing. Energy is transferred through the practitioner’s palms into the patient, and is based on the idea that each of us has an unseen life force energy. If one’s life force energy is low, we are more likely to get sick or feel stress. If one’s life force energy is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
The goal of Reiki is to find the root of the problem that is creating stress and low energy as well as emotional and physical discomfort. Reiki practitioners release energetic blocks and return the energy field to a healthy state of balance. Reiki helps re-pattern energy as well as thought forms and behaviors to prevent further discomfort and disease.
Reiki is a simple, natural, and safe method of healing and self-improvement that anyone can use. It can be very effective in creating a beneficial effect, and works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques.
What to expect
A session is usually 60 to 90 minutes long. The practitioner will describe the session and give you the opportunity to discuss any particular problems or issues you are having, then ask what you are hoping to achieve from their session. Once comfortably positioned, the practitioner moves through specific hand positions beginning at either your head or feet. Some people experience a warming sensation or tingling during the session, others feel nothing at all apart from relaxation. The session should be pleasant, relaxing, and invigorating.
